Alvaro was the best graduate from industrial engineering at the Universidad Católica de Chile

and a Fulbright scholar at Stanford Univerity, where he obtained his M.Sc in Computer Science.

David Peller, Sr. Director of Business Development, ITA Software

David Peller is a Senior Director of Worldwide Business Development with ITA Software, Inc. David has worked with leading companies such as Procter & Gamble and Microsoft in various marketing and business development roles. Before joining ITA Software, he was Head of Corporate Development for one of
the world’s largest interactive media agencies where he led various initiatives for TUI throughout Europe

and the UK. He is a qualified attorney in the UK and remains a member of the Supreme Court of England

and Wales.

Declan Boland, Director for Travel, Distribution & Hospitality Solutions, Unisys

Declan has 28 years Hospitality, Travel and Retail industry experience. His mission is to extend Unisys’ solutions and services capabilities and expertise to travel and hospitality clients, focused on a variety of CRM-type solutions including consulting, reservations, loyalty systems services, security, business intelligence and IP technologies.  His group also provides business and technology consultancy in these areas in the America’s, Europe and Asia Pacific regions.

Prior to joining Unisys, he was Solutions Executive and consulting Partner for 10 years with IBM Travel and Transportation industry group.  In addition, he held a variety of similar roles at Sabre Decision Technologies, Cendant, Galileo, Irish Tourist Board and JC Penney.

Frank Socha, CEO, Airline Solutions

Frank began his impressive 27 years in the airline industry at Lufthansa German Airlines, where he worked in key departments, including Pricing, Revenue Management and Data Distribution.  Based on his broad system knowledge, Lufthansa asked Frank to serve as Manager for Product Definition, Input/Output Design and Sales & Marketing of the Amadeus Fare Quote System in 1988. During his years at Amadeus, Frank completed his knowledge of all aspects of Electronic Data Distribution, working with all major organizations in the distribution process, such as SITA, ATPCO, IATA and others.

Returning to Lufthansa in 1995, Frank implemented that airline's data distribution unit, as its Head of Production, later joining Lufthansa Systems, as Sales Executive for EMEA. At Lufthansa Systems, Frank managed sales of Inventory Systems, MRO applications and other major airline and passenger service applications.  In 2002, Frank became the Director, Tariff Industry Affairs, at IATA. This position required the combination of all of Frank’ s areas of expertise, including Fare Construction, Electronic Data Distribution, Revenue Management, System Design, Sales & Marketing and Project Management.

Currently Frank manages his own consultancy business, Airline Solutions. Frank’s role with Airline Information involves organizing AI’s next groundbreaking conference on E-commerce in September of 2005. Frank also heads the Distribution and Optimization consulting team under AI’s Zero-Retainer consulting program.

Hamish Broom, Vice President, Supplier Sales & Service, Sabre

Hamish is responsible for managing Sabre Travel Network’s relationship with travel and travel service providers in Europe, and heads the company’s EMEA travel supplier account management team.  His responsibilities include ensuring that Sabre Travel Network continues to meet the specific requirements of its European airline, hotel, car-hire and other travel-providing customers.

Prior to his current position, Broom was Sabre Travel Network’s e-commerce and business development manager and was responsible, among other projects, for introducing to European corporate travel management companies the Sabre Corporate.Res Internet self-booking tool for business travellers.

A New Zealander by birth, Broom now lives in Buckinghamshire with his wife and children.  He has been part of the Sabre Travel Network team since graduating from the University of Birmingham in 1986, with an Honours degree in Social Science.  Previous responsibilities included servicing and developing Sabre Travel Network’s travel agency client base throughout the UK and Ireland, and developing new processes and systems to help the company deliver maximum value to its customers.

Jason Salfen, Transportation Lead, Siebel Systems

Jason is Siebel's resident loyalty program expert.  Jason managed the design and development of Siebel's next generation frequent flyer solution, and is currently working with companies across multiple industries, including airlines, passenger railway, retail, and communications, to design and implement loyalty programs that deliver tangible benefits for members and create long-term competitive advantage for the host company.

Jürgen Petri, Sr. Manager, Strategy & Portfolio Management, Lufthansa Systems

Juergen Petri joined Lufthansa German Airlines in 1988. At Lufthansa he worked in various areas, including IT, controlling, sales, cargo, and ground handling and was a member of the team that set up a new airline distribution and sales channel- Amadeus.  In 1997, Juergen joined Lufthansa Systems where he workeded to develop the SYS*GROUND ground handling system and was responsible for strategy for the passenger and sales services segment. Since January 2005, Juergen has been responsible for Lufthansa Systems’ program “Simplibizz” to support IATA’s “Simplifying the Business” initiative. He holds a degrees in Business Administration and Computer Science from the Technical University of Darmstadt.

Mariel Palau, Assistant Director of Distribution, COPA

Mariel is Assistant Director of Distribution at Copa Airlines, where her areas of responsibility include e-Commerce, Pricing and Distribution Planning. In her 5 years at Copa, she has been involved with starting Copa´s e-Commerce strategy, implementing E-TKT at the airline, developing the Distribution Planning Department, as well as with Compliance, Revenue Management and Revenue Analysis. Mariel holds an undergraduate degree in Computer Engineering from Pennsylvania State University and an MBA from the INCAE.

 

Nico Bezuidenhout, Head of Direct Channels, South African Airways

Nico is responsible for growing SAA’s direct distribution, encompassing the management and development of the airline’s global e-Commerce initiatives, Call Centres, City Ticket Offices and other emerging channels.  His specific area of interest is the harnessing of technology to the benefit of distribution reach and efficiency and consequently he played a key role in the implementation of Electronic Ticketing and the growth of e-commerce at SAA.  

Prior to joining SAA 5-years ago, with a tertiary background in Industrial Psychology, Transport Economics and an MBA, Nico started South Africa’s first Internet-based event ticketing company where he served as Chief Operating Officer responsible for Marketing, Operations and Distribution.  His further relevant professional experience includes ad-hoc consulting on distribution strategy and contact centre operations.

Roxanne Martin, Senior IT Specialist, Continental Airlines

Roxanne has over 30 years of experience in the airline industry including 12 years of varied assignments in customer service and operations for several US Nationals and 21 years with Continental Airlines. She was involved with Continental’s innovative E-Ticketing program from the beginning in 1996 and currently works with the airline’s Technology Division handling Global E-Ticketing. Roxanne plays a key role in creating multiple currency (IATA reissue), Ticket Server, TCN, E-Accounting, and E-Documentation solutions for Continental.

 

Stéphane Pingaud, Head of Distribution Marketing, Airline Business Group, Amadeus
Stéphane has over 10 years of experience in the travel industry. Based at the corporate headquarters in Madrid, Stéphane's primary responsibilities include the marketing of our distribution related services to airline customers, and he also plays a pivotal role in the development and deployment of our value-based pricing concept.

Stéphane joined Amadeus in September 1996, where he was responsible for managing and expanding the commercial relationship with airline customers spanning across three continents. Prior to joining Amadeus, he held several positions with leisure tour operators.

Stéphane holds a degree in Business Administration from the École Supérieure du Commerce Extérieur. Born in Paris, Stéphane is fluent in French, English and Spanish.
