14.00 - 15.00

The Great Fees Debate: To Fee or not to Fee?
Fees and surcharges are becoming more and more prevalent from the credit card companies and travel providers both- from surcharging credit card charges in Europe to credit cards charging 3% foreign transaction fees (and sometimes sharing this revenue with their travel co-brand partners!) on all foreign transactions, even those made in the cardholder's own currency.

In the USA and other countries, government action on fees seems eminent, while Capital One, which charges no foreign transaction fee is gaining market-share as a result. What's the future of fees & surcharges and where can travel providers generate revenue from fees? Where will fees alienate their travel customers? Can travel providers leverage their credit card partners to reduce credit card fees?
