The Istanbul Report:

Profitable Management of Loyalty Currencies

Written by Roger Williams, interviews and edited by Ritesh Gupta

FFP Conference co-founder Roger Williams has produced a written work on loyalty currency (points/miles) management that educates with compelling analysis and entertaining historical accounts. The Istanbul Report, named in honour of the 4th annual FFP Conference to take place in Istanbul Turkey is on sale now and will be available on Airline Information.org (in hardcopy) after 15 June 2008.

Written from an airline perspective, the Report offers a plethora of useful concepts for loyalty managers and marketers working in almost any field of business. Williams takes time to describe a concise history of frequent flyer programs and gives a first-hand account of the evolution of loyalty currency, which according to him is already undergoing significant change and will continue to create exciting opportunities in the near future.

The "catalysts" (as Williams describes them) of loyalty currency evolution are interviewed in the Report by freelance journalist-cum-editorial consultant Ritesh Gupta. These interviews include key executives from Aeroplan, Etihad Airways, Loylogic, and Points.com.

Interwoven between editorial on currency evolution, behind the scenes accounts of FFP Conference and little known facts such as: "which frequent flyer program was really first?" (not the one you may think), The Istanbul Report provides step by step tutorials on how to accomplish feats that simply can not be found any place else.

Learn how to valuate and strengthen your currency, align your award strategy peacefully with revenue management, audit your earn/burn ratios independently of your competition, demand forecast and understand multi-regression analysis and much more. The Istanbul Report is required reading for any loyalty manager seeking to sustain loyalty and drive new business all while earning ancillary revenues.

    About the authors:

These days Roger Williams splits his time between managing Airline Information's consultancy and supporting the research, development and branding of the firm's busy conference development schedule.

Roger speaks at key industry events and is an expert on the development of future models for frequent flyer reward liabilities. The world's top private equity firms seek Roger's consultation on loyalty program strategy. He heads a consulting portfolio for Airline Information covering projects ranging from network planning, emerging travel consumer products, shedding airline FFP mileage liabilities and creating ancillary revenue for zero startup costs.

Prior to co-founding Airline Information in 2004, Roger was a consummate innovator during his dynamic airline career. Formerly chairman for the 120-airline member ISMC organization and system manager for loyalty and alliances at Air Jamaica, Roger established solid senior airline management experience before the age of thirty. Over a period of ten years he fulfilled roles in operations, customer service, sales, network planning, and marketing.

Originally from Kingston, Jamaica, Roger currently resides in the United States. He holds undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in International Relations and Intelligence from Florida International University and the University of Salford in the United Kingdom.
