Turkish Airlines’ Frequent Flyer Programme,“Miles&Smiles
Best Practice Program Feature
as told by the Turkish Airlines loyalty team

On October 29, 2000 Turkish Airlines launched its Frequent Flyer Programme “Miles&Miles” based upon the experiences gained from previous frequent flyer programmes: “Qualiflyer” and our first loyalty programme “Mileage Club”. As of February 15, 2006, “Miles&Miles” was greatly updated to better meet the needs of our frequent fliers and its name changed to “Miles&Smiles”.

The new programme offers new services and privileges tailored to members’ travel needs, especially those who spend much of their time on board Turkish aircraft. Mıles&Smiles offers four tier levels including Classic, Classic Plus, Elite and Elite Plus. “Classic Plus” and “Elite Plus” were added to the existing “Classic” and “Elite” card offerings and now all Mıles&Smiles cards have extra benefits.

Our aim was to design our programme according to our members’ travel needs and differentiate the services given to our members according to their travel frequency. We have segmented our members by the number of flight miles in their accounts. In order to encourage our members to take more flights and reward our existing tier level members, we have increased the privileges of our members who fly 80.000 club miles or more in the last 12 months, which is Elite Plus membership.

We have designed the Classic Plus Card especially for our members who fly often on domestic lines and have difficulty in reaching the required criteria for Elite Card membership. As per our members’ requests, we have given one of the most important facilities to these members- Business Class check-in.

Our Elite Card members also have new advantages in our new programme, such as earning double miles on Business Class flights. We have also increased their additional baggage allowance and enabled them to purchase miles in order to maintain their card level.

Below we describe in more detail the advantages of Miles&Smiles membership and information about mileage accrual and redemption.
