Passenger Service Systems: the core of the airline eLandscape |

Frank Socha, pricing and distribution pioneer, has been invited back as chairman of eConference by popular demand. Frank's straight-ahead style and first-hand experience established eConference as a results-oriented event from year one. Frank
began his impressive 28 years in the airline industry at Lufthansa German Airlines, where he worked in Pricing, Revenue Management and Data Distribution. Based on his broad system knowledge, Frank was seconded by Lufthansa to serve as Manager for Product Definition, Input/Output Design and Sales & Marketing of the Amadeus Fare Quote System at its inception in 1988. Returning to Lufthansa in 1995, Frank implemented that airline's data distribution unit, as its Head of Production, later joining Lufthansa Systems, as Sales Executive for EMEA. In 2002, Frank became the Director, Tariff Industry Affairs, at IATA.
Currently Frank manages his own consultancy business, Airline Solutions, focused on Pricing, Distribution, eTicketing and Business Process Management. |

V K Mathews founded the IBS Group (IBS) in 1997, which has grown to being a leading global provider of new-generation IT solutions to the Travel, Transportation and Logistics industries and whose solutions today manage the mission-critical operations of the best airlines, the busiest international airports, top oil & gas companies and most luxurious cruise lines around the world.
Equipped with a Master’s degree in Aeronautical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur, India, Mathews started his career in 1979 as a Computer Science instructor. Later he joined the IT division of Air India, the government-owned international air carrier and played a key role in the world-wide implementation of the airline’s computerized passenger services systems. He moved to the Emirates Group in 1983, where he served in various capacities over the next 15 years, until he founded IBS in 1997. As General Manager-IT of the Emirates Group, Mathews was responsible for formulating and implementing Information Technology strategies for Emirates’ global operations. Mathews is an active member in a number of governmental advisory boards in the areas of Information Technology, Industry, Management and Education. He is also on the Board of several colleges and universities. He is a Director at the Indian Institute of Information Technology and Management - Kerala (IIITM-K) and a member of the State’s e-Governance Steering Council, chaired by the Chief Minister. Mathews has also won a number of awards for management, leadership and entrepreneurship. |

Mario M. Hardy is vice president, Asia Pacific at OAG Worldwide Ltd. Mario who is based at OAG’s regional headquarters in Singapore leads OAG’s business across the Asia Pacific region which includes offices in Hong Kong, Beijing, and Tokyo. Mario has more than 22 year's professional expertise in the travel industry. He began his career with People's Express Airlines in 1985, before joining Canadian Airlines in 1987 where he spent 12 years in a number of sales, marketing and operational roles, leading to his appointment in a senior management role heading the Group Sales & Charter division in 1997. Will Bosma is Vice President, Customer Relationship Management (CRM) of Oracle Corporation, Asia Pacific Division. He is responsible for managing Oracle's CRM business unit across the region. Mr. Bosma joined Oracle from Siebel in 2006 where he served on the executive management team for a number of years. Mr. Bosma spent his last six years at Siebel developing the company's consulting business across Asia Pacific. He also played a key role in setting up strategy for the small and medium business (SMB) sector, focusing on high growth markets in China and Japan. Mr. Bosma has spent 18 years in the IT industry, with the last 12 years focused on the broad Asia Pacific and Japan region. Prior to Siebel, he worked at SSA managing pre-sales, product management and the channel for the region. Evert de Boer, airline CRM and loyalty specialist, joined global marketing services firm Carlson Marketing in 2002. During the last 5 years, Evert alternated between the Middle East and Asia Pacific, developing and implementing airline CRM solutions for airlines such as Kuwait Airways, China Southern Airlines, Malaysia Airlines and Virgin Blue Airlines. In 2005, Evert took on the role of Loyalty Director Asia and increasingly worked in industries such as retail banking and FMCG. Evert started his career at KLM Royal Dutch Airlines’ marketing department in Amsterdam. Having worked on both the client and agency side, and across industry verticals, Evert enjoys a unique view of the challenges that face companies today pursuing valuable and lasting customer relations. Matt Vaccarella is a travel rewards specialist in Asia, where he has developed and launched profitable loyalty programs for the travel and hospitality industries. His first foray into Asia was in Seoul, Korea, where he nurtured Asiana Airlines' fledging frequent flyer program, as well as developed and launched Magic Miles, Asia’s first frequent flyer program for kids.
Matt was one of the early pioneers in the fledging loyalty marketing industry in Singapore in the mid-90s. He and his agency team developed and launched KrisFlyer, the award winning frequent flyer program of Singapore Airlines. He also led the launch of Starwood Preferred Guest Program in Asia and created tactical marketing campaigns for OAG, Federal Express and Pan Pacific Hotels & Resorts.Beyond the travel and hospitality industries, he has worked on diverse MNC and FMCG accounts in Shanghai, Beijing and Jakarta. More recently, Matt was working closely with Malaysia Airlines and Qatar Airways to maximize the potential of their respective frequent flyer programs.
Based in Singapore, Matt travels constantly throughout Asia. An avid collector, he has one of the most comprehensive collections of frequent flyer and hotel rewards membership cards and memorabilia.

Lars Denlew is head of distribution & eCommerce at Gulf Air. Lars Spent almost 15 years at various positions with Scandinavian Airlines, SAS, mainly within Airport Services and as Product Development Manager, Communications and IT products. He accepted a position as European Customer Care Manager for PSINet based in Neuchatel, Switzerland in 1999 and in 2000 he entered Atraxis (Swissair IT group) as Sales and Account Executive. After spending about a year as a consultant Lars began at Gulf Air in Bahrain in September 2005 as Head of Distribution & E-Commerce. In his present role at Gulf Air he is responsible for the Distribution and E-Commerce Strategy with the ultimate goal to significantly reduce cost of sales and improve the way Gulf Air do business with Travel Agencies, Partners and Direct to customers. Lars is fascinated by different cultures and speaks six languages. He is married with 3 children. |
Sandor Bakalis is one of the founders of Sprice.com - Travel Meta Search in Singapore, and currently acts as Vice President Asia Pacific for the company.
Sandor brings unique online travel experience to his current assignment. Prior to Sprice.com, he was responsible for Asia Pacific business development and the driving force behind commercial development of the air vertical in Hutchison-Priceline, the Asian online travel joint venture of Hutchison-Whampoa and Priceline.com. Before that, Sandor spent five years with KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, in various e-business related leadership roles. In 1998 Sandor helped KLM become one of the first airlines in Europe to sell flights online at net pricing levels, ultimately in over 50 countries using over 10 different languages. In 2001, Sandor relocated to Singapore where he assumed responsibility for the development of the Internet distribution channel throughout the Asia Pacific region for KLM, driving online sales from China and Japan all the way down to Australia and India. |

All Lufthansa Systems’ activities in the field of passenger management have been centralized in this division. Tim Ricketts is Head of IT Strategy and Planning for Etihad Airways. He has over 20 years experience working with technology in various industries. For most of his career Tim has worked in sales and sales management for IT suppliers. A graduate of IBM's sales and marketing training, Tim moved into the airline industry with Mercator, the IT services business of the Emirates Group where he was responsible for establishing the sales division. After Mercator Tim joined Sabre Airline Solutions as Sales Director. Chris Eite is the Head of Sales Development Passenger Travel Solutions at SITA. Previously as a Systems Architect for Unisys Transportation, Chris provided consulting and systems design expertise to Unisys airline and travel industry clients in Asia Pacific. For the last 10 years he has specialised in the design and architecture for e-distribution proposals for both passenger and freight distribution. With over 25 years experience in the IT industry; across a wide range of roles including consulting, program management, systems development, applications architecture, design and programming; and a range of industries including Airline, Airport, Telecommunications, Banking, Finance and Government. In London he led the Airline Network Development and Support Center, which produced the Air/net product. He participated over a period of three years on the IATA OSI profiling committee.
